Hello pretty people of the internet world!! It has been awhile, and I’m just so excited and I just can’t hide it!! YEA, that just happened. Apparently, the 80s are making a comeback in more ways than one! lol

What we really need to be talking about are the 80′s trends and fashions that are making a HUGE impact on our styles for the spring and summer trends. What you might have been noticing around some stores are the brightly colored scarves, the mini skirts, geometric shapes, FLORAL (love!), button earrings, and polka dots (which are another favorite of mine)!! These are all inspired from the eclectic 80s which were a crazy decade where fashion was a statement made through neon, pastel, spikes, and a whole lot of crazy hair!

While everyone makes a little remark about the 80s and how awful the style was, I consider it a time where they were more outgoing and FUN! And, you can dislike that time as much as you want, but we were able to get some amazing trends and inspiration from it! I mean hello..MADONNA!! haha! But really, the “material girl” did help inspire a generation with very questionable yet “express yourself” style.

What I really loved about the trends at that time which are making big moves now are the fun accessories that go along with it! These can range from huge statement pieces with shiny gold and sparkles to the bold and very colorful arm candy! Also, a huge arm candy must-have which some of you may have noticed are the spikes and pyramid type bracelets that are great layering pieces!

I personally love the pastel mixes, and colors like mint, lilac, and coral. Throw them together, and you can make an outfit that is unique and shine worthy!

BUT!! What I’ve been dying to talk about for the last couple of weeks…. THE CARRIE DIARIES!! Yes, I am almost 25 and still watching teenybopper shows. Oh well, I’ll take it, mainly because I love this show! Now, I wasn’t a regular viewer of Sex and the City, but I know the basics, plus I’ve seen the movies. What I know 100% is that they had great fashion and Sex and the City knocked down the door for a woman to be inspired again to maybe try something new or think..”hey, I need that NOW!” However, this new and younger Carrie played by AnnaSophia Robb (who is so adorable and I love her crazy awesome hair!) is a more experimental Carrie. She is still in high school in the 80s where big hair, colored jeans, shoulder pads, and neon were an everyday must. So, it is interesting to see her style evolve and to learn how she becomes this amazing grown up Carrie who is the style icon to everyday real women.

What I love about the show is that you can find some of the same items that they wear or accessorize with in stores now! Like the colored denim, the studded accessorizes, the neons, and some great dress/blazer combos that I am in love with!

You may have already noticed from previous posts that I’m all about recycling statement or “critical” pieces in your wardrobe. Now that doesn’t mean that you should become a hoarder…that might be pushing it. But saving let’s say a great necklace that you know can be used for multiple uses is not a bad idea. My statement piece or let’s say my mother’s ….but I kinda took it from her…was her very bedazzled, very 80′s top and YES that means it had SHOULDER PADS!!! But, with a little editing like taking those shoulder pads out, I was able to create a great news year’s outfit with some black skinny jeans and boots! The BEST PART!! …everyone wanted to know where I got my top from???…….”Oh, it’s just something I had laying around…”

The 80s were a time to be inspired and to become more individualistic in your style whether you described it with what you wore or your hair color or what kind of music you listened to.

Here at NYZ MODA, we are always inspired by different decades and styles (obviously). So, it’s natural that we would take the 80s and bring it back!

With The Carrie Diaries, I was able to see how that decade made such a huge impact on everything from fashion to music and so much more.

We want to celebrate our new inspirations and share them with our amazing fans! SO…get ready….here comes 80′s night!!!! WOO HOO! Here is what we are hearing from the fashion runways for 2013…

There will be a very big “back to basics” theme, which includes black and white colors and lots of stripes. The black and white is personally a favorite of ours here at NYZ MODA! Why you ask?… well you can literally accessorize it any way you want!! And you know we LOVE to accessorize!!

Back to Basics! Don’t be afraid to keep it simple! Black and white is never out of style!!

Now, when I noticed the stripes on the runways, it reminded me of a late afternoon in the Hamptons, lounging on my private yacht enjoying the sun…well at least that’s what I think it would be like… In real everyday life, the stripes whether black and white (which there seems to be MANY of) or nautical themed is a trend that can carry over for many seasons and years which is a plus for your wardrobe! And, it just reminds me of the days of Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn and their oh so classy and timeless look! (Great Style Icons)

There were also some floral as well as prints that well honestly are a necessity sometimes…I mean who doesn’t want to feel cute and carefree in your favorite floral print dress or shirt or pant suit (yup we just said it…pant suit…which honestly looks very beachy resort style and so cute with a nice pair of wedges).

Never thought I’d like this look…but I LOVE IT!

Another trend…LEATHER!! …. while leather is not a favorite. The runways were booming with leather looks…from your basic leather pants to dresses to shirts and some very daring coats. And while I personally can’t do leather, I think it is a look that (if done the right way) can be fantastic! It makes a statement on its own and is a powerhouse!

There are more than just sequins, you know..

The overall feeling I got from the runways and just kind of searching around is that you can create an absolutely fabulous look without overdoing it with sequins, sequins and more sequins. Now, that doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing sequins ever again, it just means that we can be more creative in the way we showcase all that bling. Sparkles will always be a girl’s best friend.. I mean who really doesn’t like to feel like they’re walking the red carpet sometimes…but creating a fabulous look with the right sparkle this year is about making it as easy as possible whether it’s collar embellishments or funky patterns mixed in with some beading.

The big color of the year which I’m sure you have heard or will now be hearing about…….(drumroll please) ….is EMERALD GREEN!!! which please give me a moment while I shout with joy… YES!!! WOOHOOO!! I LOVE IT!! ….okay, so back to what I was saying, emerald green is literally one of my FAVORITE colors! I think why I find it so appealing is because well you can wear it no matter if you are a red head, blonde or brunette. It is in my opinion a universal color that needed to be recognized..so thank you fashion world!!

Emerald Green will be everyone’s new favorite color this year!

Now to our favorite part……. Jewelry!!!!

The jewelry and accessories we see in 2013 will continue to include all the bright and fun colors that are just so eye catching and ELECTRIC! but also some black and white, which like the apparel, can come in many different forms, stripes, and patterns. I personally love white jewelry in the summers!..it just makes me feel sooo..…TAN! haha!

Also, a newer and more updated trend for jewelry will be “all that metal fun” which includes all of our amazing metals and some metallic..from gold to silver to rose gold and more! What we absolutely LOVE about this is that you can mix your other accessories from past seasons…like your neon bracelets with metal or metallic pieces like a cuff or bracelet to create a fun and unique piece that has been updated for the season. Some of the my favs have been MK’s rose gold watches which are beautiful! and some fabulous metal cuffs! So easy to wear!

What is so awesome about accessorizing this year is that you can create so many interesting and unique pieces JUST FOR YOU!! Just in the way you wear them together or what you pair them with! It makes every outfit special and different.

Arm Candy Lovin’

…….. it’s baaaaackkkk……….or in this case……..still here! ARM CANDY or ARM LOVE or STACKED or whatever people like to call it. Basically mixing all types of bracelets, bangles, cuffs, a watch etc to create your own statement. It is still here and going strong. It will continue to be big within the next year whether it’s mixing huge chunky color pieces or mixing smaller bracelets and bangles…which to put it simply…WE LOVE!!! I know we have already said this many times but being able to have some sort of arm style is just so UNIQUE and makes every person’s personal style noticeable. AND I love this! I love to see what clever thing someone will think of that I would never have put together. It creates and emphasizes every person’s creativity and style whether it’s simple, bold, fun, trendy, or just whatever!

There’s so much to work with this year! No doubt we’ll all stay trendy in 2013! See you guys tonight at 8 PM CST! Didn’t you hear? It’s auction timeee!!
